What is the safest seat in an airplane? This question often asked by anxious airplane passengers. The answer is NONE. Because accidents can happen at any spot within the aircraft.
Some people have opinion that sitting near to an emergency exit is the safer one. But, that’s not completely true. Once again I said accident can happen at any place within the plane. If the emergency exit is jammed, then the person sitting nearest it has some fate with the one sitting farthest from it.
The only thing to do to minimize the risk is by being alert and aware of one’s surroundings. Being alert means being watchful and attentive. Simply, note the location of all exits. Do not drink too much. Listen to all pre-flight and in-flight instructions. Try not to do anything that will harm your own safety such as having too many or too heavy carry-on luggage, spilling hot drinks, being careless with pointed objects or things with sharp edges, and many more. Just use your common sense.
Airplane accidents rarely occur. But if it happens during the flight, it is very important for the passenger to stay calm and not to be panic. Fear is a highly contagious disease. Many casualties in accidents, even those that happened on land, could have been prevented if we keep calm and think straight. So, in case of an accident is happening, just take a deep breath, keep the tone of voice down and follow the line.
There is no such thing as the safest seat in the plane. But any passenger can always choose where ever they think is the safest seat for their comfort. Create the feeling of safety in of itself is a game of mind.
